Breakdown of The Glass Processing Timeline
In the glass processing industry, many customers are often curious about the time required from raw materials to finished products. Below, Saida Glass will provide a detailed explanation of the sample production process for display cover glass and the approximate time required for each step, helping you better understand the product delivery timeline. Taking 50 pieces of 10-inch, chemically strengthened, black-bordered glass with logo printing as an example, here is a breakdown of the time required for each stage:
PART 01: Raw Material Preparation
Standard Raw Materials: We usually maintain sufficient inventory, allowing for quick production initiation, with minimal impact on the delivery timeline.
Etched AG Materials: Typically requires 7 to 20 days, depending on the supplier’s schedule.
Other Materials: Approximately 3 to 15 days are needed (excluding special materials).
PART 02: Processing and Production Stage
Cutting Process:
Cutting is relatively fast, with each piece of glass taking only 1-2 minutes. However, considering equipment setup and adjustments, the entire process takes about 0.5-1 hour.
CNC Processing:
Custom fixtures and grinding heads typically require 2-3 days for preparation, which can be done simultaneously with material procurement to save time. Each piece of glass takes about 2-5 minutes to process. Including machine setup and testing, the entire process is allocated approximately 4 hours.
Cleaning Process:
Ultrasonic cleaning is used, with each batch of glass passing through 11 cleaning tanks, taking about 30-45 minutes.
Cleaning is performed three times during the entire process: after CNC processing, after chemical strengthening, and after printing.
Chemical Strengthening:
This step is critical for enhancing glass strength. The process, including preheating, strengthening, and cooling, takes 6-8 hours. Due to variations in glass thickness and material, strengthening parameters differ, and waiting time for the strengthening furnace is often required, making this step time-consuming.
Post-Strengthening Cleaning:
After strengthening, the glass is soaked for 0.5 to 1 hour to remove residual chemicals, followed by ultrasonic cleaning.
Inspection Process:
Strict inspections are conducted after each processing step, including checks for surface defects and dimensional accuracy. Inspecting 50 pieces of glass takes about 0.5-1 hour.
Printing and Baking:
Preparing the screen printing film takes 2-3 days. Before each printing step, ink and equipment adjustments are made, and the first piece is confirmed to meet quality standards before proceeding. Printing 50 pieces of glass for one layer takes about 20-30 minutes, with baking taking approximately 20 minutes. The second and third printing steps follow the same process, with the final baking step taking about 30 minutes. The entire printing process is allocated approximately 4 hours.
Secondary Cleaning and Inspection:
This follows the same procedure as earlier steps.
PART 03: Shipping Preparation Stage
Preparation of Shipping Reports and Packaging:
After processing and inspection, shipping reports are prepared, and the glass is packaged. Packaging 50 pieces of glass takes about 20 minutes.
Shipping and Delivery:
delivery takes 3-7 days.
Summary:
Excluding logistics and delivery time, the entire glass processing process takes approximately 7 to 15 days. The actual time may vary depending on equipment conditions, process complexity, and order volume. We will make every effort to ensure the delivery of high-quality glass cover plates within the agreed timeline.
