Behind cover glass processing, what technologies involved?
As we all know that, typically the process of a cover glass production line is: cutting - CNC - ultrasonic cleaning - chemical strengthening - printing - baking - inspection - packaging. Many people may think that the entire process is "so simple". Indeed, from the perspective of the process flow, the production of glass covers seems very easy. But is that really the case? Let's take a look at where the technical content of cover glass processing lies.
First of all-Shaping
Processing regular square and round glass cover plates is easy to achieve, but when it comes to the complex shapes, the difficulty of processing will be greatly increased. For example, in the following situations:
- Irregular cutting: including the processing of irregular shapes, arc edges (2.5D), or polygons. This kind of processing requires the equipment to have high-precision control performance, and the adjustment of equipment parameters is also very important to avoid chipping and cracking.
- Precise hole drilling: some glass cover plates need to be drilledwith holes to accommodate other components, such as holes for camera and sensor, or even hole-in-hole structures. The size and position accuracy of the holes directly affect the functionality of the whole finished product, which requires high-precision CNC operation control and precise tools.
- Complex grooves: grooves are often processedto meet certain design or functional requirements, such as the assembly of embedded electronic components or blind keys. The depth and precision of the grooves require higher stability and process control of the equipment. These complex shape processing not only require high-precision equipment, but also rich operation experience and parameter optimization capabilities to meet the customer's requirements for dimensional tolerance and appearance consistency.
Secondly-printing:
Common black and white frame printing is relatively simple, but multi-level and multi-color printing has extremely high requirements for process precision and quality control.
- Multi-layer printing: When the number of printing layers reaches 6 or more, the registration accuracy between each layer becomes very critical. Even a slight deviation can affect the visual effect.
- Color difference control: Each piece of printed color needs to be strictly consistent, especially bright colors like white and red. The slightest difference is easily detectable. It is necessary to have precise color-matching capabilities and strict process parameter control to ensure the consistency of each batch of products.
- Printing accuracy and yield: For some cover plate products used in precision equipment, the precision requirement of the printed pattern position is very strict. The printing equipment, printing environment, and operation process in the factory must meet very high standards to effectively improve the yield and reduce defectrate during production.
- Ink performance and stability: As a "face project", the quality of the ink directly affects the durability and appearance of the cover lens. Especially in terms of weather resistance, UV resistance, and adhesion, the ink must pass strict tests to ensure that the cover lenscan maintain color stability and adhesion even in harsh environments.
Thirdly-surface treatment on glass
The surface treatments of the front cover glass include AG (anti-glare), AR (anti-reflection), AF (anti-fingerprint) , which can not only increase the practicality of the product, but also improve the performance of the product in different environments. Among them, the stability and uniformity of AG and AR highlight the requirement of professional technology.
